Uh, that took longer than I thought. XD Sorry guys, I've been spacing badly lately with all this schoolwork.

ANYWAY.

Aw, is that all we have this time? ;_; Well, okay... THIS JUST MEANS WE HAVE TO BE AWESOMER. AWESOMEST.

There you have it.

NOW. Rules are as follows, mangled from Gelg's rules post that was linked to before. As always, these aren't concrete set-in-stone rules. If you can find a way to break the rules, interestingly, more candy for you. These rules are mostly the same, with some added bits about filesize and what to do if you need to drop out.

STEP 1: DRAW AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER

Draw a simple character of your own creation. By original I mean the character should be one of your own creation, not from an existing story or published work. But do not worry about the details; just draw a fun or exciting looking character.

* Encouraged: Characters that stretch and flex your creativity.
* Also Encouraged: A dynamic pose that expresses the character’s personality and emphasizes key traits without obscuring too much physical information

Try to make a quick clean sketch that’s easy to interpret. You don’t need to finish an inked and colored illustration, a simple sketch will do. Just don’t be sloppy, other people will have to interpret this.

STEP 2: SCAN AND SEND

Scan character and e-mail it to the next person on the list (if you're last on the list send it to the first) For sanity's sake, please put your name and concept in the filename. Also please try to keep your images under 250k, and for the sake of everybody's cracked out resolutions, below 800 x 600.

* Required: A sketch of the character.
* Optional: A BRIEF description of the character’s personality, character’s name, and/or clarification of details. (Not Recommended)
* Not Allowed: Character history; physical description; in-depth biography I will punch you if you do this
* For Best Results: Image ONLY. However, you can include a brief description of the character's personality. Keep the PERSONALITY description to three or fewer sentences. Feel free to clarify some things that aren't clear in the image, but remember this exercise is about drawing.

The best results of the game come from letting each artist interpret the characters as they will, as this will lead to wild variations, and a general mutation of the concept; one you might find more interesting than if you outline it for everybody.

Complete steps 1&2 within a week of the start of the game.

STEP 3: CHECK E-MAIL FOR ART FUNK DRAWINGS

Receive the drawing from the person ahead of you in your E-mail in box. Be sure to get a good feel for the drawing before going onto the next step. Check your E-mail regularly.

It might be a good idea to even completely ignore any description included with the character. Again, this is about the drawings.

STEP 4: DRAW THE OTHER PERSON’S CHARACTER

Draw your own interpretation of the character, without changing the overall design.

1. You can add or remove accessories, modify the coat, adjust the face, etc.. But try to keep the character recognizable as the same concept.
2. Be sure the picture is clear and understandable.

Don’t worry about making a finished image, just make a sketch that’s clear and understandable.

If you have trouble understanding or interpreting anything in the image, feel free to contact the artist before you.

STEP 5: SEND IT FORWARD WITHIN A WEEK

E-mail this picture only to the next person on the list. For sanity's sake, please put your name and concept in the filename. Also please try to keep your images under 250k, and for the sake of everybody's cracked out resolutions, below 800 x 600. I know I already said that, but it just drove me -that batty- last time. I don't know why it wasn't thought of sooner. *duncecap*

STEP 6: REPEAT STEPS 3 THROUGH 5

Repeat steps 3-5 until your own character gets back to you, at which point you send all the pictures you drew to Gelg and Zaph. We are gelgameth AT gmail DOT com and podinglite AT gmail DOT com, respectively.

The effective deadline for each image is 12AM Sunday morning, PST (which gives you 3 extra hours if you’re EST..), or 12 midnight Saturday night--they're the same time. You’re good as long as you send one drawing per week, regardless of if you send them in the right order. If you get AHEAD… well. You’re ahead. The only case where you'll get in trouble is if the person next in line is not getting any pics.

A week is MORE than enough time to make one quick sketch, scan it, and E-mail it. If for whatever reason you are incapable of keeping up with this pace, please let Gelg and Zaph know, as well as the people that were before and after in line. This is so that the person who was before you will know to send to the person who was after you. If it becomes necessary, there'll be a post with the updated mailing list.

The first week starts this Sunday the 24th, which is when you START DRAWING. No one says you have to wait until then of course, you have a few extra days. Mail your pic to the next person by Sunday the 1st of October.

Are we good? Are we kosher?

Okay so I'm gonna be the one that doesnt get it.

The picture we get back (on week 6, since there are 6 people participating) will be my exact pic I drew in the first place. Wasn't this supposed to be a telephone-themed game? like each person plays off of the pic they get until after 6 weeks the pic may be near indestinguishable from the original, often with funny results?

I mean, the way I'm interpreting it is everyone works form the base pic and only minor alterations occur, often in a tightly controlled manner by comparison to the telephone system.

Okay, brick me now, my head is spinning... >_<;

You were right the first time around, man. XD All I really care about is that in the end, the character concept is at least a little recognizable (or not! Last time we got great results because people went more or less nuts) None of the above are concrete rules, so long as everybody has fun and draws. Basically just have fun with it.

I now have a brick!

When it comes time for you to send off to the person after you, send your rendition of the pic that the person before you sent. :x ... I feel like that didn't make any sense, and I -wrote- it.

Just as an example, if I send you a pic of a um, brick, you draw the brick, then pass your drawing on to the next person. That's what I meant. XD

Yessah, 'tis correct! I'm sorry if the rules were at all vague and misleading and weird. XD Will try to make it clearer next time.
